💼 Workshop Brief

Effective communication isn’t just about writing well — it’s about thinking clearly, structuring deliberately, and speaking with purpose.

This workshop introduces The CommonGround Framework™ (or The CGF Model), a powerful model built on over a decade of experience in helping professionals rethink how they communicate — across emails, presentations, reports, or even social media posts.

Whether you're in business, creative work, or public service, this training helps you sharpen how you observe, listen, and express.

🚀 About the CGF Model

The CommonGround Framework™ (or The CGF Model) is a communication framework based on foundational cognitive processes: context, comprehension, and precision. This model for the three cognitive pillars and how they interact with each other was developed and designed by B/NDL Studios, a member of The Jakarta Post Group.

The CGF Model is a registered trademark that grounds all of our communication training programs and is applicable to all communication outputs. Instead of teaching formulaic writing outputs, the CGF Model trains professionals in cognitive mechanics that go beyond techniques and best practice, and instead focuses on a targeted thinking model that applies universally, whether in reports, data selections, presentation structures, emails, or other content.

More than just an adjustment to our previous learning models, the CGF Model is a paradigm shift in how communication is taught and mastered.

📖 Lesson Plan

📍 Chapter One: Ground Zero – Where Communication Fails

We begin by uncovering why communication breaks down even when intentions are good. Through real world examples and analysis, we introduce Aristotle’s Triangle and explore how even the smallest misalignments between speaker, message, and audience can derail clarity.

  • Understand Aristotle’s Triangle: speaker, message, audience

  • Understand how emotional and cognitive noise can blur communication goals

  • Understand the triangle of intention → message → audience

📍 Chapter Two: Thinking in CGF Model

We introduce The CGF Model, focusing on three interlocking core pillars of effective communication.

  • Clarity: Understand the role of intent behind a communication message and identify the possible barriers; and reframe a difficult message.

  • Structure: Learn how to structure ideas and information to guide perception; and identify structural flaws.

  • Articulation: Understand how word choice, tone, pacing, and platform can shape trust; and develop an audience-centric style.

📍 Chapter Three: Communication in Motion

This is where it all comes together. Participants will write documents and apply The CGF Model in their real-case communication.

  • Observe → Interpret → Compose → Refine

  • Applying The CGF Model in real-time to create meaning, not just content

  • Making clarity sharper, structure stronger, tone smarter
