About The Workshop
Good descriptive writing does more than tell readers what happened. It gives them something to see, hear, feel and experience.
This six-session workshop introduces participants to the craft of descriptive writing, with a focus on turning statements into vivid scenes, using sensory detail with purpose, revealing character through observation and behavior, and writing description that moves a story forward rather than slowing it down.
Across the first four sessions, participants will learn practical techniques for building stronger imagery, emotional resonance and scene construction. The final two sessions are dedicated to feedback and revision, allowing participants to apply the techniques to their own writing, identify recurring habits and strengthen their judgement as writers and editors of their own work.
Designed for writers across creative disciplines, the workshop emphasizes description not as decoration, but as a tool for creating meaning, character, movement and connection with the reader.

This session highlights the participants’ individual drafts using techniques taught from Session 1-4.
The session will look at what’s working, what’s missing, and where the writing still needs improvements in creating an immersive experience for readers.
Participants will receive individual feedback on their drafts.

This session will look at revisions made by participants based on feedback in the previous session.
We will compare before-and-after versions and to discuss momentum in the writing process; and how to polish the draft into clearer purpose of immersion through details.
